Gunmen Attack APC Candidate’s Wife’s Convoy in Osun

On Sunday evening, the convoy of Dr. Sekinat Oyebamiji, wife of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, was attacked in Ede South Local Government Area, Osun State.

The incident occurred around 7 p.m. after Dr. Oyebamiji had concluded a political engagement in Alajue Ward 2.

She was accompanied by Princess Bukola Adereti, wife of the APC deputy governorship candidate Alhaji Kayode Adereti. Approximately 15 armed assailants ambushed the convoy, causing panic among party supporters and residents.

Although Dr. Oyebamiji and Princess Adereti were unharmed, one individual, the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Sekona Branch, suffered severe head injuries and required medical treatment.

Hon. Kolawole Salami, Chairman of Ede South Local Government, condemned the attack and called for a thorough investigation by security agencies, alleging that the attackers were loyalists of the Accord Party, a claim that remains unverified.
