Oyebamiji Claims APC Victims of Political Violence in Osun

Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, accused the state government of being the source of persistent political violence, asserting that he and his party are the real victims. Speaking with senior journalists in Lagos ahead of the August 15 governorship election, Oyebamiji dismissed claims by the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, that his administration and supporters were victims, suggesting that Adeleke was seeking public sympathy.

He alleged that over 25 APC members were killed during the 2022 governorship election, citing the murder of Remi Abass, the Chairman of Irewole Local Government, as a significant incident. Oyebamiji stated that several APC members and residents have been killed since 2023 by individuals allegedly acting on behalf of the government.

He mentioned that the APC has documented these politically motivated attacks and is pursuing justice through the courts. Oyebamiji emphasized that the ongoing violence reflects the ruling administration's influence.
