FRSC and GRAEF Promote Safe Cycling for Lagos Residents

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), led by Lagos Sector Commander Kehinde G. Hamzat, partnered with the Gabriel Rotimi Aroge Empowerment Foundation (GRAEF) to advocate for safer bicycle use in Lagos. This initiative was highlighted during a safety session titled “Building Citizen Resilience Through Sustainable Mobility: Promoting Safer Bicycle Use in Lagos,” held at the FRSC Lagos State Sector Headquarters.

Hamzat emphasized that sustainable mobility should include safe, affordable, and environmentally responsible transport options. He noted the importance of bicycles in reducing infrastructure pressure and promoting physical fitness.

The campaign encourages cyclists to obey traffic regulations and urges motorists to respect cyclists as legitimate road users. GRAEF Founder Rotimi Gabriel Aroge mentioned that their bicycle initiative aligns with the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030, aiming to reduce road traffic deaths.

The foundation has also introduced bicycle and safety training in five schools across Lagos.
