$90 Billion Russian Oil Smuggling Network Exposed

An investigation by the Financial Times has uncovered a network of nearly 50 companies coordinating a $90 billion operation to smuggle Russian oil, effectively masking its origin. This operation is particularly linked to Rosneft, Russia's top oil producer, which is state-controlled.

The investigation identified 48 entities sharing a single private email server associated with the oil smuggling network. Despite U.S. sanctions imposed on Rosneft in October 2025, which aimed to cut off major markets for the Kremlin-controlled firm, the smuggling operations have intensified.

Redwood Global Supply has been identified as the single biggest exporter of Russian crude oil, and it, along with 13 other entities and individuals, is involved in supporting the Russian energy sector. The European Union has already sanctioned these entities, which are known to facilitate the sale of Russian crude oil.
