Fuel Tanker Fire on Enugu-Onitsha Expressway Confirmed

On May 5, 2026, at approximately 10 PM, a fuel-laden tanker was involved in an accident that resulted in a significant fire on the Enugu-Onitsha expressway, specifically at Ugwu Onyeama. Okwudili Ohaa, the Chief Fire Officer of Enugu State, confirmed the incident on Wednesday, stating that no lives were lost.

The Enugu State Fire Service personnel responded promptly to the scene, working to extinguish the raging inferno. Their efforts were successful, and the fire was brought under control, allowing for the restoration of normal traffic flow along the expressway.
