FUGA Appoints Professor Hamidu Usman as CDL Director

The Federal University Gashua (FUGA) has appointed Professor Hamidu Usman as the pioneer director of its Centre for Distance Learning (CDL). This appointment, approved by Vice-Chancellor Professor Yaqub Ahmed Geidam, is part of the university's initiative to enhance access to flexible, technology-driven education.

Professor Usman, an expert in Medicinal Chemistry and Open and Distance Learning (ODL), has significant experience in distance education administration, quality assurance, and digital learning systems. He has been a member of the Open, Distance and e-Learning Association of Nigeria (ODeLAN) since 2023.

Prior to this role, he served as Deputy Director (Academic) at the Centre for Distance Learning, University of Maiduguri, from December 2020 to March 2025, and as Head of Examinations and Academic Records from October 2019 to October 2021. The Vice-Chancellor expressed confidence in Usman's leadership abilities, emphasizing that his experience will be crucial in achieving the university's educational goals.
