Decline of Fulani Herdsmen in Southeast After Buhari's Death

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, a prominent Igbo socio-cultural organization, has stated that the activities of Fulani herdsmen in Southeast Nigeria have diminished since the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari. In a statement issued on Sunday, the faction's Deputy President General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and spokesperson Thompson Ohia, expressed that the decline in herdsmen activity is not merely coincidental but rather a result of the end of state-sponsored terrorism that characterized Buhari's administration.

They accused the previous government of deploying Fulani herdsmen with sinister intentions to destabilize Southern Nigeria, particularly the Southeast region. The group highlighted the long-standing terror inflicted by these herdsmen, which led to the destruction of farmland and displacement of numerous villagers, turning fertile Igbo land into wasteland.

The statement emphasized the need for continued vigilance against such threats to ensure the safety and stability of the region.
