INEC Reveals Top States for Registered Voters Ahead of 2027

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), led by Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan, revealed the states with the highest number of registered voters in preparation for the 2027 general elections. Lagos State has the highest registration with 7,488,633 voters, followed by Kano with 6,570,276, and Kaduna with 4,662,640.
Other states in the top ten include Katsina (3,876,051), Rivers (3,736,434), Oyo (3,588,111), Delta (3,525,988), Benue (3,057,225), Ogun (3,037,981), and Bauchi (3,012,547). The national voters’ register now contains 103,428,715 voters after the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which added 10,772,421 new registrations.
INEC announced that the voters’ register will be available for public scrutiny from October 9 to 15, 2026, and the collection of newly issued Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) will also commence on October 9.
