Falconets Players Join Super Falcons for Olympic Qualifiers

Six players from Nigeria's Falconets have received call-ups to the Super Falcons for their upcoming 2028 Olympic qualifying matches against Comoros. The selected players include goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma, defender Tumininu Adeshina, midfielder Favour Nkwocha, and forward Janet Akekoromowei, all of whom participated in the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.

Additionally, Farida Abdulwahab and Joy Igokwe, who were part of the Falconets but could not attend the tournament due to visa-related issues, have also been included. Super Falcons interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen announced a 28-player squad on Tuesday via the team's X account.

Notable players in the squad include captain Rasheedat Ajibade, forward Asisat Oshoala, and goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie. Defender Ashleigh Plumptre returns after missing the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations due to injury.

The players are to report to AM2PM Hotel, Ijebu-Ode, on Saturday, October 3, with the first leg of the qualifiers scheduled for Friday, October 9, and the return leg on Tuesday, October 13.
