Kano Speaker and 20 Lawmakers Defect from NNPP to APC

In a significant political move, the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Jibril Ismail Falgor, along with 20 other lawmakers, officially defected from the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). This mass defection comes after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf resigned from the NNPP, citing internal crises and legal disputes within the party.

Among the defecting lawmakers are key figures like Muhammad Bello Butu, Lawan Hussain Dala, and Muddasir Ibrahim Zawachiki. The defection is expected to deepen the political realignment in Kano State, with Governor Yusuf set to formally register with the APC.

The wave of defections also includes 774 members from the NNPP in Rimi Gado Local Government Area. This move is a significant development in the state's political landscape, indicating a shift in power dynamics and potential implications for future governance.
