Xi Jinping Addresses BRICS Summit on Global Cooperation

On September 13, 2026, Chinese President Xi Jinping addressed the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, India. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian government for hosting the summit.

Xi highlighted the accelerating changes in the global landscape and the significance of the Global South as a driver of world multipolarity. He called for BRICS countries to act as a stabilizing force in international affairs, advocating for fairness and justice in international rules.

Xi emphasized the need for Global South nations to defend the rule of law, uphold multilateralism, and support the reform of the World Trade Organization. He also stressed the importance of a people-centered development philosophy and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Xi noted that since the launch of the Global Development Initiative five years ago, over 2,000 projects have been implemented, and training has been provided for more than 200,000 professionals.
