Tinubu Calls for Global Governance Reform at BRICS Summit

On Sunday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu delivered a significant address at the ongoing 2026 BRICS Summit in New Delhi, India, advocating for an urgent overhaul of global governance structures and international financial institutions. Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu called for a more representative, equitable, and responsive global governance architecture, including reforms to the United Nations Security Council.

He emphasized Nigeria's support for institutions that reflect contemporary economic and demographic realities. Tinubu urged for a BRICS partnership that transitions from dialogue to actionable outcomes, inviting foreign investors to view Nigeria as a gateway to Africa's market under the African Continental Free Trade Area.

He outlined his administration's Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on economic resilience, infrastructure, and private-sector-led growth. Tinubu highlighted Nigeria's young population as a key asset and identified investment areas such as digital skills, artificial intelligence, and technology-enabled businesses, advocating for deeper BRICS cooperation in these sectors.
