FUT Minna Alumnus Launches N1.1M Scholarship for Geology

Wale Olorunleke, an alumnus of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, has established a N1.1 million scholarship scheme aimed at supporting Geology students. The Wale Olorunleke Scholarship for Excellence, launched virtually on Tuesday, will award N200,000 to the best graduating Geology student for the 2025/2026 academic session and three N300,000 awards to eligible returning students in the 2026/2027 academic session.

Olorunleke emphasized the importance of giving back to the institution that shaped his career, recalling the support he received during his studies. The scholarship will initially focus on the Department of Geology, with plans for future expansion.

The Best Graduating Student Award will be determined using verified academic records, while the returning-student awards will be available for students progressing through various academic levels, requiring a minimum CGPA of 3.5 and demonstration of financial need. Mrs Omolola Alhassan, representing the Registrar, praised the initiative as a significant contribution to the university and committed to ensuring its sustainability for future generations.
