Dr. Dawodu Advocates for Digital Healthcare in Nigeria

Dr. Olayemi Dawodu, laboratory physician and Chief Executive Officer of Cerba-Lancet Laboratories Nigeria, stated in an interview that the future of healthcare is digital and Nigeria must embrace this change. He highlighted the role of artificial intelligence, telepathology, and government support in reaching underserved communities.

Cerba-Lancet Nigeria played a significant role during the COVID-19 pandemic by having already invested in molecular testing capacity prior to the outbreak, which allowed them to contribute effectively to national testing efforts. Dawodu emphasized the importance of preparedness and the ability to adapt quickly in times of crisis.

He noted that innovation does not always require advanced technology; sometimes, simple solutions can have a significant impact. He expressed a commitment to democratizing pathology services so that every Nigerian, including those in remote areas, can access high-quality services, even if the equipment is not as sophisticated as that in urban centers.
