George Ilenikhena Breaks Nigerian Transfer Record With €30 Million Move to Al-Ittihad

George Ilenikhena, a 19-year-old Nigerian footballer, has made history by completing a reported €30 million transfer to Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, becoming the most expensive Nigerian teenager ever. This move surpasses the previous record set by Lyn Chelsea's €20 million transfer deal during the 2006-07 season.

Ilenikhena, who had a successful stint at Monaco, made 51 appearances, scoring 10 goals and providing two assists. His departure from Monaco was confirmed, reflecting on his impact since joining the club in the summer of 2024.

Ilenikhena's football journey began in Lagos, and he has progressed rapidly, making his senior debut in November 2022 and moving to Royal Antwerp before joining Monaco. He has already achieved significant milestones, including surpassing Nwankwo Kanu's UEFA Champions League record.

The young Nigerian talent has now joined the ranks of valuable teenage exports from Nigeria, alongside players like Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman.
