Weah Critiques CAF's Decision on Senegal's Title

George Weah, a former Ballon d'Or winner and three-time African Player of the Year, publicly criticized the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for its decision to strip Senegal of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title, which they won in January 2023 against Morocco. Weah, who served as the President of Liberia, expressed his concerns regarding the CAF's appeal board's ruling that overturned Senegal's victory.

He stated that the referee's decisions made during the match should stand, as per football laws, and warned against undermining the integrity of the sport. Weah emphasized that the final decisions made by referees on the pitch should not be overturned post-match, as this could lead to a decline in the sport's credibility.

He called on the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to intervene and correct what he described as a travesty, asserting that the integrity of African football must be preserved.
