Rooney and Weah Slam CAF Over Senegal AFCON Title Reversal

Wayne Rooney and George Weah have publicly criticized the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following its decision to strip Senegal of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title, which was awarded to Morocco. This decision came after a ruling that Senegal's national team, the Teranga Lions, walked off during stoppage time due to a penalty incident, which was deemed a breach of Articles 82 and 84, resulting in a 3-0 forfeit in favor of Morocco.

The Senegal Football Federation confirmed it will challenge this ruling in the Court of Arbitration for Sport. George Weah, an African football icon and former Ballon d'Or winner, expressed concerns about the broader implications of this decision, warning that overturning a complete match could erode trust in the sport and undermine the integrity and credibility of African football.

He urged CAF to review the matter without delay, emphasizing the need for fairness and consistency in football governance.
