Ghana Approaches Eddie Nketiah for International Switch

Ghana has approached Crystal Palace striker Eddie Nketiah about switching his international allegiance from England, as reported by Standard Sport on Thursday. The 27-year-old, born in Lewisham, London, to Ghanaian parents, is contemplating the offer but has not yet made a decision.

Nketiah has represented England at youth levels and is the Under-21s all-time leading scorer. He made his only senior appearance for England in October 2023, coming on as a substitute for Ollie Watkins in the 73rd minute during a 1-0 friendly win over Australia at Wembley.

This single cap allows him to switch allegiance under FIFA’s eligibility rules, provided he meets the necessary conditions. Ghana aims to include Nketiah in their squad, which already features players like Manchester City winger Antoine Semenyo and Coventry City midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi.

Nketiah joined Crystal Palace after leaving Arsenal and has started all three of the club’s Premier League matches this season under new manager Pierre Sage, following an injury-plagued previous season.
