GOC 2 Division Urges Troops to Avoid Substance Abuse

Major General Auwalu Mahmuda, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, issued a warning to troops regarding substance abuse and the misuse of social media during his operational tour from September 2 to 4, 2026. This visit included the 12 Brigade Area of Responsibility (AOR), where he was welcomed by Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi.

Major General Mahmuda praised the brigade for their operational achievements, notably the rescue of 15 National Youth Service Corps members and six civilians abducted in Kogi State. He highlighted the strategic significance of Kogi State and urged troops to maintain peace to support socio-economic activities.

Additionally, he visited the 21 Battalion Headquarters in Ayingba, where he commended the troops for their dedication and operational successes. He stressed the importance of discipline as the foundation of the Nigerian Army and encouraged collaboration with other security agencies to sustain operational readiness.
