Tiger Woods Declines 2027 U.S. Ryder Cup Captain Role

Tiger Woods has officially declined the role of captain for the U.S. Ryder Cup team for the 2027 event, which will take place at Adare Manor in County Limerick, Ireland, from September 17-19.

This decision comes as Woods, a 15-time major champion, focuses on his health after a recent car crash. He has requested to leave the United States to seek comprehensive inpatient treatment, as recommended by his doctor, Douglas Duncan.

Woods' health issues have been compounded by multiple surgeries, and he has been charged with property damage related to the crash. The PGA America organization has expressed full support for Woods, emphasizing the importance of his long-term health.

Woods has participated in the Ryder Cup eight times since his first appearance in 1997, winning the event once in 1999. Keegan Bradley has been confirmed as the captain for the U.S. team, while Luke Donald was confirmed as the captain for the European team last month.
