Governor Eno Reveals N10m Monthly Earnings from Business

Governor Eno disclosed that his akara and bread business, branded as “Akara Burger,” generated not less than N10 million monthly before he entered public office. He shared this during a state monthly covenant prayer service, reflecting on his entrepreneurial journey.

Eno's business attracted significant patronage from workers, particularly those heading to ExxonMobil, who purchased the akara and bread combination with coffee. His account contributes to ongoing discussions about the viability of small-scale businesses in alleviating economic pressures in Nigeria, a debate sparked by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu's comments encouraging petty businesses.

She later clarified that her empowerment program extends beyond akara sellers to include various petty traders. Additionally, she announced a N100 million intervention for 2,000 petty traders in Jigawa State.

Eno's background includes substantial business involvement, having served as chairman of the Akwa Ibom Hotels and Tourism Board and as Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources before becoming the governor on May 29, 2023.
