Zamfara Governor Launches 120-Day Education Plan

On Monday, during a meeting of the Zamfara State Executive Council at the Government House in Gusau, Governor Lawal approved a 120-day intervention plan for the state's education sector. The plan aims to address critical issues identified in education, health, and the workforce.

It includes a rapid intervention strategy to enhance educational quality through diagnostics and assessments by the Ministry of Education and the Quality Assurance Agency. The council also approved the formation of a joint committee to evaluate unauthorized structures around schools and ensure the security of the educational environment.

Additionally, a unified education sector bill is to be drafted and presented to the state house assembly for enactment. Governor Lawal also approved the transfer of non-teaching staff to the Ministry of Education's payroll, which includes various support roles.

The council established a composite steering committee to oversee the state's emergency education authority, incorporating stakeholders such as UNICEF and traditional leaders.
