Edo Governor Okpebholo Supports Returnees with N1m Each

Governor Okpebholo of Edo State announced a financial support initiative for returnees evacuated from South Africa, providing N1 million each to assist their reintegration into society. The announcement was made during a reception at the Government House in Benin City.

Okpebholo emphasized that the financial support is intended to help the returnees secure accommodation and rebuild their lives, noting that they possess valuable skills and knowledge that can enable them to become self-reliant. He assured the returnees of the state government's continued support, stating that once they are identified, they will receive soft loans to kickstart their reintegration.

The governor urged the returnees to view Edo as a safe haven, assuring them that they will not be stranded and will receive the necessary support to start afresh. He also reflected on the long-standing relationship between Nigeria and South Africa, highlighting the importance of protecting Nigerian interests abroad.

Mr. Lucki Agazuma, the Director General of the Edo Immigration Agency, commended Okpebholo for his compassion towards the returnees.
