Edo Governor Okpebholo Announces N41m Relief for Returnees

Monda Okpebholo, the Governor of Edo State, announced a N41 million intervention fund aimed at supporting Edo indigenes returning from South Africa due to xenophobic attacks. During a welcome event in Benin City, he stated that each returnee would receive N1 million as part of the state's measures to help them restart their lives.

The governor emphasized that the financial support would be disbursed within 24 hours to ensure that returnees are not left without accommodation upon their arrival. He encouraged the returnees to focus on rebuilding their futures rather than dwelling on the losses suffered during the attacks.

Okpebholo assured that the Edo State Government would continue to stand by its citizens and urged returnees to take advantage of government empowerment programs to acquire valuable skills and thrive in business.
