Governor Ododo Urges Fair Representation for Idah

Governor Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State has called attention to the marginalization of Idah Local Government Area within Kogi East, emphasizing the need for equitable political representation. Since the return to democracy in 1999, the Senate seat for Kogi East has rotated among various local government areas, with Idah receiving minimal representation.

From 1999 to 2011, the Senate seat was held predominantly by Dekina, with Idah only briefly represented by Senator Dangana Ocheja for six months. The pattern continued with the seat shifting to Olamaboro, where Senator Ali Attai Aidoko served for approximately seven and a half years.

Ododo stressed that this lack of sustained representation for Idah over nearly three decades raises questions about fairness in democracy. He urged for a balanced approach to political power-sharing to ensure that all local government areas feel included and to prevent tensions that could be exploited by opposing forces.
