Governor Alia Plans Education Upgrade and Factory Revival

Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, the Governor of Benue State, announced initiatives to enhance education and economic development during a town hall meeting at the College of Education, Oju. He revealed plans to upgrade the college into a standard higher institution to strengthen educational opportunities for youth.

Additionally, Alia committed to completing the ongoing Oju-Awajir Road project and initiating further legacy projects to foster development in the region. He also stated that efforts were underway to revive the Igumale Cement Factory in Enone, with rehabilitation work expected to commence soon after expert assessments.

Alia urged local farmers to adopt extensive farming practices and assured them of investments in agro-industrial projects, including the Food Basket Brewery and revived Taraku Mills, to create markets and reduce post-harvest losses. He reiterated his administration's stance against ranching in Benue and emphasized the need for economic diversification beyond civil service reliance.
