Governor Makinde Receives Rescued Pupils and Teachers

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State received rescued pupils and teachers from a military operation in Ibadan. The handover ceremony took place at the Executive Chamber of the Governor's Office.

Makinde expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and military security agencies for their collaborative efforts in the safe release of the victims. He acknowledged the public's prayers and support during the rescue efforts.

The governor stated that the victims would require professional support to recover from the physical and emotional trauma of their ordeal. He announced that the survivors would be placed under the care of a specialized medical team led by Professor Temitope, a former Chief Medical Director at the University College Hospital (UCH).

Major General Chinedu Nnebeif, the General Officer Commanding the 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, confirmed that the successful rescue was the result of a sustained multi-agency military operation targeting kidnapping networks. The operation faced challenges, including difficult terrain and casualties among the military personnel involved.
