Umahi Claims Obi Will Contest and Lose 2027 Election

On Friday, Dave Umahi, a former governor of Ebonyi State, asserted that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), will be alive to contest the 2027 presidential election but will ultimately lose. Umahi made these remarks while inspecting a federal road project in Ebonyi State, describing Obi's concerns about threats to his life as unfounded.

He emphasized that no one desires Obi's death and that the real reason for his fears stems from the belief that the South East remains a political base following the 2023 presidential election. Umahi argued that Obi's apprehensions are misplaced, as he believes the region will benefit from President Bola Tinubu's infrastructural projects, which he claims will reshape the political landscape of the South East.

Umahi challenged Obi to a public debate regarding the performance of Tinubu's administration and insisted that the federal government's policies are delivering tangible benefits to the region.
