Training Initiative to Resolve Conflicts in Kogi State

On Wednesday, a high-level training on Alternative Dispute Resolution was held in Kabba, Kogi State, organized by Global Peace Development under the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES), a World Bank-assisted initiative. The training aimed to equip around 200 participants, including community leaders, farmers, pastoralist associations, civil society groups, and media members, with practical tools to prevent conflicts and promote peaceful coexistence.

Ebruke Onajite Esike, Executive Director of Global Peace Development, emphasized the importance of local capacity building for non-violent dispute resolution and acknowledged the support of the Kogi State Government, L-PRES, and the World Bank. He noted that the prosperity of farming and pastoral communities relies on peaceful relationships.

The training covered skills in mediation, negotiation, and community-based dispute resolution. Dr. Danjuma Mohammad, the training coordinator, stated that embracing peaceful coexistence is key to preventing conflict in communities.
