Kogi State Trains Principals on Gender-Based Violence

Kogi State has commenced training for school principals and anti-Gender-Based Violence (GBV) focal persons through its Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE). This training is being conducted across the three senatorial districts of the state and aims to strengthen the capacity of school administrators and designated GBV officers to prevent, identify, and respond to GBV, sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment.

James Peter, the organization’s focal person, stated that the training is essential due to ongoing projects in participating schools, emphasizing the need to equip school staff with the knowledge and skills to handle potential issues of sexual violence. Isa Nasiru, a participant from Okehi Local Government Area, expressed that he has gained the necessary skills to manage GBV cases effectively, including understanding the steps to take and the appropriate contacts for addressing such cases.
