Ground Handlers Halt Services to XEJET Over N300m Debt

The Aviation Ground Handlers Association of Nigeria (AGNAN) has instructed its members to cease providing services to XEJET Airline due to an outstanding debt estimated at N300 million. This directive was announced on a Monday, with AGHAN accusing XEJET of failing to honor payment arrangements despite multiple recovery efforts.

The suspension of services has begun to impact XEJET's operations, with reports indicating that some passengers' check-in luggage was transferred to another domestic carrier. In a joint statement by AGHAN President Olaniyi Adigun and Vice President Bashir Ahmed, it was noted that other indigenous airlines have adhered to debt repayment schedules, unlike XEJET.

The association emphasized the necessity of this decision to protect its members' financial stability amidst rising operational costs. AGHAN also warned that other indebted airlines could face similar sanctions if they do not comply with payment agreements.

The handlers had previously issued a seven-day ultimatum for airlines to address outstanding debts.
