NDC Founding Members Relegated in Enugu, Group Claims

The True Democracy Patriots, a political group, accused the national leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) of neglecting its founding members in Enugu State. Chief Tony Okpanku, the group's convener, stated that the party's original stakeholders were overlooked during the primaries, particularly in the case of the House of Representatives ticket for Igboeze North/Udenu Federal Constituency, which was awarded to a decampee from the African Democratic Congress instead.

Okpanku emphasized that the NDC was established before Mr. Peter Obi and Dr.

Rabiu Kwankwaso joined and criticized Senator Serieki Dickson for abandoning the party's original supporters. He noted that this neglect has led to discontent within the party, which negatively impacted NDC's performance in the recent senatorial bye-election for Enugu North, won by the All Progressives Congress.

The group warned that the sidelining of founding members could harm the party's prospects in the upcoming general elections.
