GGAA Defends Zacch Adedeji's Role in APC Campaign Council

The Good Governance Agenda in Africa (GGAA) has condemned the opposition's criticism of Zacch Adedeji's appointment as Deputy Director of Fundraising in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council. In a statement signed by convener Dr. Randy Atu on Wednesday, the group described the attacks as a sign of electoral weakness and a diversion from critical issues like economic management and security.

They asserted that Adedeji, who is the Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, brings valuable experience in revenue mobilization that is essential for a national campaign. Dr. Atu stated that questioning Adedeji's competence reflects the opposition's lack of confidence in their electoral prospects.

He emphasized that public service rules do not prevent serving officers from participating in political processes, provided they do not misuse official resources. The GGAA rejected claims of institutional capture, stating that the presence of expertise in fundraising does not compromise the independence of the revenue service.
