Ogun Guber Aspirant Abayomi Huny Faces N2bn Fraud Allegations

A group has lodged a petition with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) against Abayomi Huny, a gubernatorial aspirant in Ogun State, alleging N2 billion fraud. Huny, who is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Ogun State Waste Management Authority, is accused of awarding lucrative contracts to companies linked to the former boss of the agency.

The petition, presented by Kazeem Soliu, claims that public funds exceeding N2 billion were diverted into bank accounts associated with corporate entities linked to Huny's family. It also alleges that the assets acquired by Huny's family are disproportionate to known legitimate sources of income.

The group has called for a forensic review of the agency's bank records and contract documents to uncover the truth. Huny has denied the allegations, stating that they are politically motivated and aimed at damaging his reputation as he pursues his gubernatorial ambitions.
