CSO Urges EFCC, ICPC to Release Ogun LG Funds Probe Report

A civil society organization (CSO) has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to release a probe report regarding alleged diversion of funds in Ogun State's local government. The request was made in Abuja on Monday by the Youth Leadership Initiative (LYLI), represented by Executive Director Lekan Oladapo.

The group highlighted the lack of transparency in contract awards and fund management within the local government. They noted that the Ogun State government has allegedly withheld federal allocations, including ecological funds meant for 20 local governments, which has severely hampered local governance.

Hon. Wale Adedayo, a former chairman of Ijebu East local government, corroborated these claims, stating that local governments are unable to perform basic functions such as maintaining rural roads and primary health centers.

The CSO criticized the closed-door nature of public procurement in Ogun State and referenced a previous case involving a ₦1.39 billion housing project that was challenged under the Freedom of Information Act.
