Elder Statesmen Urged to Address Tinubu's US Records

The Yoruba Ronu Leadership Forum has called on former President Olusegun Obasanjo and other prominent elder statesmen to publicly address the ongoing legal controversy involving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's records in the United States. In a statement signed by President Chief Akin Malaolu on Sunday, the group expressed concerns about transparency, accountability, and Nigeria's international reputation due to the U.S. court proceedings.

Malaolu urged Obasanjo, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, Wole Soyinka, and Goodluck Jonathan to break their "graveyard silence" on the matter, asserting that Nigerians deserve clarity on the issues. He noted that while an investigation does not imply guilt, the reported criminal investigation involving Tinubu is significant given his presidential position.

The group also called for President Tinubu to support lawful disclosure of relevant records. Malaolu warned that silence on such matters is unacceptable and could have serious implications for Nigeria, referencing the experiences of Venezuela and Panama.
