Jarvis Shares Struggles Growing Up with Bipolar Mother

Elizabeth Amadu, popularly known as Jarvis, spoke at SPAC Nations Church in London about her difficult upbringing with a mother who has bipolar disorder. She described her childhood as stressful and traumatic, detailing how her mother's condition led to extreme mood swings, including violence and verbal abuse.

Jarvis revealed that she grew up without knowing her biological father, as her mother became pregnant while abroad and returned to Nigeria to give birth. She expressed the challenges of growing up without a father, compounded by her mother's mental instability.

Jarvis credited her grandparents for providing discipline and guidance, which helped shape her life positively. She recounted financial hardships, including struggles to pay school fees and periods of hunger.

Despite peer pressure, she was determined to stay in school and avoid questionable means of making money. A friend introduced her to live streaming on TikTok, where she earned her first $5, which brought her joy amid their struggles.
