Gunmen Abduct Principal and Four Students in Kogi

On July 14, 2026, gunmen abducted a principal and four students who were writing the National Examination Council (NECO) exams at a secondary school in Odo Ekina, Dekina Local Government Area, Kogi State. The incident occurred around 5:25 PM during the examination.

The Kogi State Police Command confirmed the abduction through a statement issued on July 15, 2026, by ASP Salisu Oyiza, the command's spokesperson. Following the attack, a combined team of police and security agencies launched a search and rescue operation for the victims.

The police are currently on the trail of the assailants, and efforts to rescue the abducted individuals are ongoing.
