Gunmen Demand N70M Ransom for Kidnapped Herdsman

On May 4, 2026, at approximately 9 PM, Yahaya Sulaiman, a prominent Fulani herdsman, was abducted by gunmen in Ijebu Jesa, Osun State. The kidnappers specifically inquired about Sulaiman's whereabouts before capturing him and whisking him away to an unknown location.

The gunmen have demanded a ransom of N70 million for his release. The incident occurred along the Iloko-Ijebu Jesa road, and a security source indicated that Sulaiman is considered a significant figure among the Fulani community in the area.

Following the abduction, the Osun State Police Command, represented by Public Relations Officer Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the incident and stated that police had moved to the scene immediately. Investigations are ongoing, and the police are seeking relevant information to assist in rescuing the victim, although the victim's family has yet to report to the anti-kidnap authorities.
