Gunmen Kill Three, Abduct Sarkin Noma in Kano Attack

On Saturday, August 29, 2026, gunmen launched a late-night attack on Chiromawa town in Garun Malam Local Government Area of Kano State, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to five others. The assailants specifically targeted the residence of Alhaji Yusuf Nadabo Chiromawa, the Sarkin Noma of Kano, and opened fire without warning.

Following the attack, the five injured victims were taken to a hospital for treatment. Alhaji Aminu Salisu Kadawa, the Chairman of Garun Malam LGA, confirmed the incident and stated that security personnel have been deployed to locate the attackers and secure the release of the abducted traditional ruler.

In a subsequent operation, residents reported that Nadabo was rescued on Sunday morning through a collaboration between soldiers and local vigilantes. The Kano State Government is set to implement enhanced security measures in the region to prevent future incidents, and Kadawa urged residents to cooperate with security agencies.
