NURTW Member Kamoru Omokoye Shot Dead in Lagos Attack

On Sunday morning, Kamoru Omokoye, a member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), was shot in the head by gunmen at Abijo Bus Stop in the Ibeju-Lekki area. The incident occurred around 9 am, and he was subsequently rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Epe, where he was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.
According to a police source, two men in an unregistered Lexus RX 350 opened fire on a group gathered at the bus stop before fleeing the scene. The attackers were described as suspected cultists.
Advocacy platform Naija Confra reported that Omokoye, also known as Zobo, was sitting at a spot where local gin, known as ogogoro, was sold when the shooting began. At least three others sustained gunshot wounds during the attack.
Omokoye had previously worked at Awoyaya Bus Stop before moving to GRA Bus Stop and was a father to an eight-month-old child. Abimbola Adebisi, the Public Relations Officer, confirmed that police investigations into the incident had commenced.
