Slain Osun Transport Leader Oyeyemi Olalekan Buried

Oyeyemi Olalekan, known as “Emir,” was buried in Osogbo following his murder shortly after being appointed as the state chairman of the Osun State Transport Management System (OSTMS) by government representatives. Security was increased at motor parks across Osun State, particularly in Osogbo, due to concerns over potential reprisals from his supporters.

Eyewitness Gbadegesin, Vice Chairman of the Osun NURTW, recounted that after the announcement of Olalekan's appointment by Commissioner for Transportation Ephraim Oyedele, they stopped for a meal in Ile-Ife when they were attacked by hoodlums allegedly led by Nurudeen Alowonle. Another eyewitness, Kareem Akeem, corroborated the attack details, identifying individuals involved.

Alowonle denied his involvement, claiming he was in Osogbo at the time. Osun State Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Zungura confirmed an investigation into the murder and warned against reprisals, while police deployed to maintain order at the Mayfair park, which has been temporarily closed.
