Gunmen Kill Seven in Plateau Community Attack
On October 27, gunmen attacked a community in Plateau, resulting in the deaths of seven individuals. The assault occurred around 10:20 PM, with the attackers shooting sporadically, targeting victims in their shops and at a local restaurant.
Community member Mr Bot Silas confirmed the incident, stating that the gunmen's actions forced residents to flee for safety. Rwang Tengwong, spokesman for the Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM), condemned the attack, labeling it unacceptable and urging security agencies to enhance their protective measures for communities.
He called for a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety of residents. The Plateau State government had recently imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in response to ongoing violence in Mangu, Bokkos, and Riyom, highlighting the heightened tension in the area.
As of the report, SP Alabo Alfred, spokesperson for the Plateau State police command, had not responded to inquiries regarding the incident.
