NFF's Gusau Commits to Referee Improvement Initiatives

On Wednesday, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), pledged total support for measures aimed at improving the refereeing situation in Nigeria. During a visit to the NFF Secretariat in Abuja, he expressed condolences for the recent passing of Hon Sani Zubair, the head of the NFF referees unit.

Gusau reiterated the NFF's readiness to adopt a tough stance on issues affecting refereeing, including the need for better recruitment practices. He highlighted the importance of recruiting referees below the age of 14 to ensure a competent future officiating cadre.

Gusau also mentioned the NFF's commitment to training at least 10 Nigerian referees to utilize Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology by the end of the year. Dr.

Moham Sanusi, the NFF General Secretary, challenged the new executive team to implement strict measures against poor officiating in the Nigerian league, emphasizing the need for integrity and professionalism among referees.
