FCT Football Association Mourns Referees Council President

The FCT Football Association expressed deep sorrow over the death of Sani Zubairu, the president of the Nigeria Football Referees Association, who died on Tuesday morning. Usman Ilerika, the secretary of the FCTFA, disclosed the news, highlighting the profound impact Zubairu had on the development of refereeing in Nigeria.

The association extended condolences to the Nigerian Football Referees Association and the wider football community, noting that Zubairu's contributions would not be forgotten. Patrick Pascal, chairman of the Bauchi State Football Association, described Zubairu as a towering figure in Nigerian football and a mentor to many referees.

He emphasized Zubairu's dedication to nurturing young talent and his respect among FIFA-rated referees. The funeral arrangements are expected to take place on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in accordance with Islamic rites.
