Gwarzo Appointed Chancellor of Hausa Community in Europe

On 13 September 2026, Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo was appointed as the chancellor of the Hausa Community in Europe, a recognition of his significant contributions to promoting Hausa culture, language, and the welfare of Hausa communities in Europe. The Emir of the Hausa Community in Europe, Alhaji Surajo Jankado, made the announcement during the International Hausa Day celebration held in Paris, France.

In his acceptance speech, Gwarzo expressed gratitude for the appointment and committed to collaborating with stakeholders to enhance the Hausa language, culture, and unity among Hausa people in Europe. He emphasized the importance of preserving Hausa heritage for future generations.

The event also featured remarks from Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by his spokesperson Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, who praised Gwarzo's community service. Other notable figures recognized during the celebration included Prof Suwaiba Ahmed, Dr Hajjo Sani, and Alaja Mufeedah Folashade Bola Tunubu.
