Katsina Health Workers Set 21-Day Ultimatum for Demands

The Assembly of Health Care Professionals in Katsina State has threatened to initiate industrial action if the state government does not address its welfare and professional demands within 21 days. The ultimatum, effective from August 11, 2026, was announced by Comrade Ibrahim Balange, the state Chairman of the Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria.

The health workers are demanding the immediate implementation of the 100 percent Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) as seen in Federal Government-owned health institutions, the skipping of CONHESS 10, and an upward review of the hazard allowance to 100 percent. Additional demands include increases in call duty, shift, clinical and non-clinical allowances, as well as an increase in nurses’ uniform allowance to N80,000.

Balange emphasized that these demands aim to improve the welfare and motivation of health workers and enhance healthcare delivery in the state. He warned that failure to meet these demands would lead to a strike, urging the government to resolve the issues promptly.
