Hit-and-Run Driver Kills Dispatch Rider in Lagos

A tragic hit-and-run incident occurred in Lagos, where a dispatch rider was killed after being struck by a Howo diesel tanker on the Cele Bridge Corridor along the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the rider was trapped beneath the tanker and died instantly.

LASTMA personnel cordoned off the crash site to prevent further accidents and impounded the tanker. The driver of the tanker fled the scene upon realizing the severity of the incident.

The Ijesha Police Division was called to reinforce security and take over the investigation. The deceased rider was retrieved from beneath the tanker and taken to the Yaba General Morgue.

LASTMA's Director of Public Affairs, Adebayo Taofiq, expressed condolences to the family and urged the police to conduct a thorough inquiry to ensure justice is served.
