2026 Afikpo International Carnival Launched in Abuja

The 2026 Afikpo International Carnival was officially launched in Abuja by the Honourable Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Barr. Hannatu Musa Musawa, who emphasized the carnival's role in showcasing Nigeria's heritage and fostering unity, tourism, and economic growth.

Represented by her Special Adviser, Mr. Doyin Diya, she highlighted the carnival as a reflection of national identity.

The Permanent Secretary, Mr. Abdulkarim Ozi Ibrahim, noted that the carnival serves as a platform for cultural celebration, national unity, and economic stimulation.

He assured support for the initiative, which aims to project Nigeria positively and create opportunities for local artists and businesses. SDG Amb.

Wilson Babanjida Agboti, Chief Convener for the carnival, stated that it would promote economic development in the Eastern region and generate revenue for Nigeria's cultural and tourism sectors. The carnival is scheduled for December 2026 and is expected to be the first internationally recognized carnival in the Eastern region.
