Flooding in Jalingo Submerges Homes and Disrupts Traffic

A severe downpour in Jalingo, which began around 2:30 PM and continued until 11:30 PM, has led to extensive flooding in low-lying areas such as Mile Six and Mafin. The flooding has submerged shops and homes, with residents losing several household items and important documents.

The floodwaters have blocked drainage systems, exacerbating the situation as indiscriminate waste disposal has contributed to the blockage. Traffic movement along the Jalingo Wukari Road has been disrupted, and a temporary bridge near Namnai Bridge has been washed away, marking the second time in three weeks that this structure has been destroyed by flooding.

Thousands of travelers have been stranded along the river, with Mallam Tanko Saidu reporting ongoing efforts to deploy boats to ferry passengers across the flooded areas. The situation remains critical as residents struggle to salvage belongings amid rising water levels.
